Fun vocab practice method
I use this very often to have students practice science terms and definitions, which is especially helpful with new vocabulary. For a $25 annual fee, class progress, voice recording, and image uploading are features and would be useful for students at lower levels, just learning how to read. Students enjoy the games.
Vocabulary with a twist
I love the quiz option, and students like that they can retake to achieve higher scores. If it is done outside of class, however, they quickly figure out how to cheat, i.e. get a high score the first time around. This defeats the goal of memorizing the vocabulary.
Helps with word wall tasks
I enjoy using prepida in class. It does work well and support the Spanish language. Students can not only see the word/translation but they can hear the word and see the image if added.
Strong alternative to flashcards
I love this product. It's a great study tool for students.it's great for struggling readers because the computer will read aloud the flashcards and their answers. This site also allows students to create practice tests. Overall, it's an excellent tool for the classroom!
Reliable study solution
I love the practicality of this app. It takes the place of note cards and notebooks that are used to store knowledge on a subject. This app lets you add your own questions and answers and take them with you wherever you go.
My top pick for advanced learners
Very good practice for tests.
Simple yet effective helper
I used this site as a practice site for upcoming tests and to familiarize students with formal testing, particularly in the area of AP US History. At first I did find it overwhelming with so much information and test materials but got over that quickly. Students like self testing and comparing how they do over a period of time.
Covers history topics well
I really like this platform not only as a further practice tool but also for those test study prep sessions.
Classic flashcards reimagined
I love this program and have been using it for a couple of years now by putting the vocabulary review terms onto the site. The students love it because it helps them with their homework. The students find they don't have to take their books home to review for a test because the vocabulary terms are already accessible to them through prepida. prepida is great for ELL, low literacy, and special needs students because they are able to have the vocabulary words read to them out loud which is very beneficial in helping them to remember the information. The games that are available for the students to play keep them interested because the students want to beat the timers. prepida is free and it is one of the most important tools that I've used in my 15 years of teaching.
Can be used anywhere
I think this is an excellent platform for students who need practice on their own. The only thing I don't like about it is that if students input poor or inaccurate definitions, it helped them study bad information. This set a few of them up for disappointment because they thought they spent a lot of time studying, but it wasn't necessarily helpful studying. I think this works best when students have definitions from the teacher so they can be sure they're working with good information.
